Student Engagement in IPE
Students are actively engaged in Interprofessional Education (IPE) encounters, activities, and organizations while attending UMMC. Students have several opportunities to learn about, from, and with each other in an interprofessional setting.
IPE Campus Welcome and Well-being Block Party
Students kick off the Fall semester by attending a campus-wide back to school event; the event theme pulls from the IPEC Competency Roles and Responsibilities. Each school participates demonstrating its roles and responsibilities on a health care team through a student-designed, discipline-specific booth. Each booth offers opportunities to learn more about the discipline and includes interactive activities, visual graphics and content, and student interactions. The Dean of each school serves ice cream to all the students who attend. Other activities include interactive simulations on a variety of topics, indoor/outdoor games, food trucks, and photo opportunities. [2023 IPEC Competency RR4 and C1]
- The 2024 IPE Campus Welcome and Well-being Block Party will be September 12th at the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.
Interprofessional Student Grand Rounds
Interprofessional Student Grand Rounds will be hosted monthly by the IPE Student Liaison Advisory Council (SLAC). Grand rounds are designed by students for students to engage in interactive discussions focused on patient-centered care provided by interprofessional teams. The grand rounds will be presented by upper classmen or trainees from any of the disciplines enrolled at UMMC using clinical scenarios identified through experiential experiences. The 2024-2025 Interprofessional Student Grand Rounds will be held on the following dates in the Student Union (NN213-02) from 12-1 pm:

TeamTalks Podcast
Hosted by IPE's SLAC, TeamTalks Podcast produces a monthly podcast engaging interprofessional practice teams in a student-led conversation regarding the importance of inteprofessional practice. These informal discussions provide an avenue to facilitate an exchange of ideas and interactions that support team collaborations. [2023 IPEC Competency TT3 and C2]
